Daily walkaround check app with instant defect reporting
Drivers check their van, car or truck on their phone in under a minute. Anything red or amber reaches the office straight away, and stays on the list until a later check proves it's fixed.
A walkaround check on the phone they already carry
Drivers open VCT in their phone's browser, see the vehicle they have today, and tap each item green, amber or red. A note and the reason go with anything that isn't green.
- No app store, no paper sheets to collect or lose
- MOT and tax shown in plain words, for example "Valid until 02 May 2027"
- Take a different vehicle or hand one back without phoning the office
- Drivers only ever see their own vehicle and details

From a driver's tap to a fixed vehicle
- The driver does the check. Each item on your checklist, green, amber or red, with a note for anything that needs attention.
- The office sees it at once. Red and amber items land in the work queue. Critical ones sit at the top.
- Someone owns the fix. Give the defect an owner and track it through to done.
- A later check closes it. The defect only clears when a check on that vehicle marks the same item green, so nothing drops off because somebody said it was sorted.

Defect reporting that ends with a fix, not a form
Paper defect sheets tell you a problem existed. VCT tells you who's dealing with it and whether it's done. Every check and every defect is kept, so you can show an auditor or insurer exactly what happened and how fast it was fixed.
- A work queue of every open defect, worst first
- See which drivers are checking and which aren't, over the last 30 days
- Every inspection and defect goes into the compliance pack PDF
- Optional text nudges for drivers who haven't done today's check
Your checklist, matched to the vehicle
VCT starts with a standard list (fluids, tyres and brakes, lights, wipers, windscreen and mirrors, seat belts, horn) and you can edit it for your fleet. Match it to DVSA's guidance for van daily walkaround checks or the longer HGV daily walkaround checks, and add anything specific to your vehicles.
The same VCT also checks every vehicle's road tax with DVLA and its MOT or HGV annual test with DVSA, every night. More on that on the MOT and tax reminders and HGV fleet compliance pages.
Walkaround check app FAQs
Do drivers need to download an app?
No. VCT runs in the phone's web browser. Drivers sign in once and the check opens straight away; there's nothing to install from an app store.
Does the check follow DVSA guidance?
The checklist is yours to edit, so you can match it to DVSA's walkaround check guidance for vans or HGVs and add anything specific to your vehicles. VCT is not approved or accredited by DVSA.
What happens when a driver reports a defect?
Anything marked red or amber goes straight to the work queue with the driver's note. You give it an owner and track it to done. The defect only clears when a later check marks the same item green.
Can I use it for HGVs?
Yes. Add HGV items to the checklist, and VCT checks each truck's road tax with DVLA and its annual test with DVSA every night, the same way it does for vans.
How much does it cost?
£3.50 per vehicle a month, falling to £2.50 per vehicle for bigger fleets (minimum £35 a month), ex VAT. Monthly, with no contract. The walkaround app is included, not an add-on.
