VCT vs Fleetkeep

Fleetkeep is a low-cost reminder tool for MOT, road tax, insurance and service dates. VCT does the reminders too, and adds daily walkaround checks, a defect work queue, bookings, texts and a compliance pack. Which one fits depends on how much of the job you want in one place.

Where they differ

Reminders, or the daily routine as well

Fleetkeep is built around renewal dates. It reminds you early and often, covers insurance and servicing as well as MOT and tax, and keeps vehicle documents and driver guidance in one place. For a small business that wants nothing more than to stop missing renewals, that's a sensible, low-cost choice.

VCT starts from the same dates and goes further into daily running. Drivers do a walkaround check on their phone each day. Red and amber items go to a work queue with an owner, and stay open until a later check marks them green. Bookings show who has which vehicle. With the add-on, texts reach drivers when a date is close or a check hasn't been done. The compliance pack PDF puts every check, defect, MOT test and service for a period into one document.

Which one

Which suits your fleet

Choose Fleetkeep if…

You mainly need reminders for MOT, tax, insurance and servicing, especially for fewer than 10 vehicles. You want push notifications, document storage and a driver portal, a 30-day trial, or the option of paying annually. Lowest monthly cost matters most.

Choose VCT if…

You want daily walkaround checks with defects tracked until they're fixed, vehicle bookings and text reminders as well as MOT and tax. You run trucks and want HGV annual tests checked every night. You need a compliance pack PDF for an insurer, an O-licence audit or a DVSA visit.

Trucks and licences

HGVs and driving licence checks

VCT reads each truck's annual test from DVSA and its road tax from DVLA every night, the same way it handles van MOTs. A new HGV's first annual test is due 12 months after registration, sooner than the 3 years for a van. Trailers have no registration number, so VCT can't check them automatically. See the HGV fleet compliance page for the details.

For driving licences, VCT records checks and consent, lets drivers share their DVLA check code from the driver app, and shows when the next check is due. Automatic licence checking with DVLA is coming soon.
